Yungo Turns 10: A Decade of Building Engineering Differently

PRAGUE, 1 September 2026 – Ten years ago today, Yungo opened its first office in Prague with a team of around 10 people and an ambition to build an engineering company differently.

A decade later, Yungo has grown into an international organization of approximately 100 professionals, supporting telecommunications and energy infrastructure projects across Europe and North America.

But the story of Yungo's first ten years is about more than growth.

It is a story about what can happen when a company combines engineering expertise with an international mindset, a progressive approach to people, long-term customer partnerships and a growing focus on innovation.

From Prague to international engineering partner

Yungo was founded in Prague on 1 September 2016. Within less than two years, a team of approximately 20 people had already taken the company beyond the Czech Republic and into more than five European countries.

That international outlook became part of Yungo's DNA.

Over the decade that followed, Yungo supported projects across the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Ireland, France, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Today, around 100 professionals work together across telecommunications, energy and digital engineering, combining different technical backgrounds, nationalities, cultures and perspectives.

For Yungo’s CEO Wilfred de Wildt, reaching the ten-year milestone is first and foremost an opportunity to recognize the people, partners and organizations that made that journey possible.

“Reaching this milestone gives us an opportunity to reflect on a decade of growth, innovation and collaboration. Most importantly, it gives us a chance to say two simple words: thank you,” says Wilfred.

“Without the confidence our customers and partners have placed in us over the years, Yungo would not be where it is today.”

Team Building 2023

Partnerships built to last

One of the achievements Yungo values most is not simply the number of projects completed or countries entered, but the longevity of many of its customer relationships.

Several customers that worked with Yungo during its first years continue to work with the company today.

“In a rapidly changing world, long-term partnerships are never guaranteed,” says Wilfred. “They are earned through commitment, trust, performance and mutual respect.”

A particularly important role in Yungo's journey has been played by Allinq, which became Yungo's sole shareholder in January 2021 and has been a long-standing partner throughout the company's development.

Other important milestones have followed. In 2017, Yungo was nominated for the Best Enterprise Start-up Award. In March 2025, Yungo Wins Champion of Diversity Award at FTTH Conference 2025. In September 2025, the company moved into its new Prague office, and in March 2026, Yungo became an approved engineering company for Energy distributors,  Alliander and Stedin.

Building a different kind of engineering company

As Yungo expanded internationally, another part of its identity developed alongside its engineering capabilities: the belief that a modern engineering company should be designed around people as much as around processes.

From its Prague headquarters, Yungo has worked to create an environment where international talent and people from different backgrounds can build careers together.

Today, the company brings together colleagues representing a wide range of nationalities, cultures and professional experiences. But for Yungo, diversity has never been only about who gets hired.

It is also about creating the conditions in which different people can succeed.

That means recognizing that employees have lives outside the office. It means giving parents greater flexibility to combine careers with raising children. It means focusing on trust and responsibility rather than simply measuring time spent at a desk. And it means creating a workplace where different perspectives are treated as an advantage rather than something that needs to be standardized.

Yungo believes this represents an important part of what the healthy workplace of the future should look like: international, flexible, diverse, accountable and human.

The philosophy is also practical. Engineering increasingly requires teams to solve complex problems across borders, technologies and disciplines. Bringing different experiences and perspectives into those teams strengthens the ability to challenge assumptions, adapt and find better solutions.

Despite Yungo's growth, that principle has remained constant.

“We continue to invest in people, and we continue to believe that diverse teams deliver stronger results,” says Wilfred. “Our workforce today represents multiple nationalities, cultures and perspectives, and this diversity helps us innovate and solve increasingly complex challenges for our customers.”

The next transformation is already underway

If international expansion defined an important part of Yungo's first decade, technology is set to play an even greater role in its second.

Telecommunications and energy infrastructure are entering a period of significant transformation. Network operators face increasing pressure to build and upgrade infrastructure faster while improving quality, controlling costs and managing growing volumes of data.

At the same time, automation, artificial intelligence and digitalization are changing what is possible within engineering itself.

Yungo has therefore made significant investments in innovation and smart tooling, developing solutions that complement engineering expertise by automating repetitive processes, improving quality control and helping teams work with infrastructure data more intelligently.

The company's work includes AI-supported image analysis, automated document processing, network quality-control solutions and tools such as FiberTrace, Yungo's in-house solution for connecting OTDR measurements with network geometry to support validation, fault identification and As-Built quality control.

The objective is not technology for technology's sake.

It is to give engineers better tools, remove unnecessary manual work and enable customers to make faster, more informed decisions about increasingly complex infrastructure networks.

That philosophy will become even more important as Yungo enters its next chapter.

From 20 people to the next ten years

In Yungo's earliest years, a team of around 20 people helped take a Prague engineering company into more than five European countries in less than two years.

In 2027, Yungo wants to bring that same entrepreneurial energy to the next stage of its development, combining ten years of engineering experience with the investments it is now making in innovation, automation, AI and smart tooling.

The opportunity ahead extends beyond designing infrastructure. It is about finding better ways to engineer it.

As energy networks undergo one of the largest transformations in generations and demand for connectivity continues to grow, Yungo sees an opportunity to combine human engineering expertise with technology to help customers design, validate, document and manage infrastructure more efficiently.

“The first ten years were about establishing Yungo,” says Wilfred. “The next ten years will be about creating even greater value for our customers, developing our people and contributing to a more connected and sustainable future.”

Ten years after opening its office in Prague, Yungo remains rooted in the same idea with which it started: bring good people together, give them the freedom and tools to do excellent work, and build partnerships that last.

The scale has changed.

The ambition has not.
